Steering and traffic safety are linked

            0

Driving behavior and driving safety, among other factors, depend on how reliably the wheels guide the machine in the chosen direction. Both should occur as precisely and purposefully as possible. The steering response is therefore precisely tuned to the axles and to the geometry of the steering gear. The Focus chassis is a convincing example of how today's mid-range cars don't require big compromises from their customers when it comes to driving comfort and safety. MacPherson struts discipline the Focus's front wheels, while the rear wheels are individually supervised by a central axle arm. The rear wheels, like in the Mondeo Turnier, are guided by SLA suspension with wishbones of different lengths. The SLA suspension adjusts the track, making the Focus a pleasantly active car to drive. All elements of the rear axle suspension are supported by a separate transverse support, which is screwed soundproofed to the bottom of the vehicle.

Servo control: 1 - expansion tank with hydraulic oil; 2 - hydraulic oil pressure pipeline; 3 - rack and pinion steering mechanism; 4 - hydraulic oil return line; 5 - cooling element (depending on model and configuration); 6 - oil pump.
