Regularly check the steering free play (Focus Turnier 1)

            0

Your Focus's steering play is adjustable. At least when it's just normal wear and tear, not a malfunction. But leave the adjustment to a workshop - professionals have the necessary measuring tools on site. If necessary, you can check it yourself on a level rocky or paved surface.

Stages of work

Set the wheels straight.

Reach your hand through the open side window and jerk the steering wheel back and forth.

Watch the left front wheel, and even better, its side lip, it should rhythmically follow the movements. An elastic tire can slightly slow down the movements.

If you have not established free play when driving straight ahead, but have found jamming when turning the steering wheel more strongly, then the toothed rack is worn out. In this case, replace the entire steering mechanism.
