The free play of your Mondeo steering wheel can be adjusted. At least if it is not a matter of normal wear or defect. However, you should still leave the adjustment to your workshop – the professionals have the necessary measuring tools on site. However, you can also check it yourself by placing the car on a level asphalt or concrete surface.

ORDER OF EXECUTION |
- Set the wheels for straight-line movement.
- Grab the wheel through the open side window and turn it back and forth until it stops.
- Pay attention to the front left wheel, or better yet, to the side rim flanges, they should move rhythmically with the wheel. An elastic tire can slightly "slow down" these movements.
- If the clearance is not determined when the wheels are installed directly, but there is still a clamping force when the wheels are turned strongly, then the toothed rack is worn out. Then the entire steering mechanism wears out.
