Removal and installation of the rear shock absorber strut (Mondeo 3)

ORDER OF EXECUTION



  1. On a level surface, securely place the rear of the vehicle on jack stands and additionally support the front axle with a wheel chock.
  2. Remove the appropriate wheel.
  3. Remove the parking brake cable from the brake mechanism bracket. To do this, squeeze the locking tabs 1 and hang the cable 2.

  4. Remove the ABS sensor (indicated by the arrow) from the wheel hub.

  5. Unscrew the brake caliper together with the shield, hang them with wire in the wheel well and...
  6. ...pull the wheel brake disc out of the wheel well. If it is jammed, gently use a plastic hammer to help you.
  7. Remove the four screws (indicated by arrows) and detach the hub from the mounting flange.

  8. Remove the lower wishbones (front and rear) from the steering knuckle (shown by arrows).

  9. Unscrew the trailing arm from the steering knuckle and...
  10. ...remove the stabilizer connecting rod.
  11. Disconnect the steering knuckle (indicated by the arrow) and remove it.

  12. Remove the stabilizer connecting rod from the shock absorber strut and...
  13. ... remove the shock absorber strut from the edge of the auxiliary frame using a hydraulic car jack. To do this, lift the shock absorber strut 1, press it away from the edge of the auxiliary frame 2 and lower it slowly using the jack.
