Removal
1. After blocking the front wheels, jack up the rear of the car and secure it on supports placed on both sides under the chassis.
2. Unscrew the locking nut and pull out the lower shock absorber eye mounting pin (see Figure 21.2).

3. Unscrew the pin securing the upper shock absorber eye to the bottom, then remove the shock absorber (see Figure 21.3).

4. To check the operation of the shock absorber, clamp it in a vice, and then fully insert and remove its piston several times. If the shock absorber's resistance has noticeably weakened or if it is uneven, the shock absorber should be replaced with a new one. It is advisable to replace both front shock absorbers at once, because replacing one may cause a deterioration in handling.
Installation
5. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Make sure that all mounting bolts are securely tightened.
