Replacing the rear shock absorber

Raise the rear of the car.

Remove the trim of the wing niches in the body.

Unscrew the bolts of the bottom fastening of the columns (pic. 4.23).



Dismantle the suspension column top mount (pic. 4.24).



Take out the column.

Dismantle the column using the description below.

Secure the spring compressor 14-018 in a vise (pic. 4.25).



Lay the spring with suspension column in tool 14-018.

Compress the spring so that its ends are released.

Unscrew the upper transverse bolt (pic. 4.26) and remove the washer. Take out the shock absorber.



Insert a new shock absorber and assemble the column (pic. 4.27).



Screw in the transverse bolt and tighten it firmly.

Loosen the spring compressor. Pay attention to the correct placement of the ends of the spring.

Install the column in place in the car.

Tighten all bolted connections to the correct tightening torques under load, i.e. after the vehicle has been placed with its rear wheels on the floor.
