Replacing the shock absorber rear suspension

            0

NOTE: The wagon rear suspension design is somewhat different. Replacing the shock absorber on station wagon vehicles is described below, at the end of this subsection.

You will need: socket heads «on 10», «at 15», box key «at 13», welding clamp.

WARNING: Before raising the rear of the vehicle, engage first gear and chock the front wheels. With the rear end raised, place secure supports next to the jack.

WARNING: Shock Absorbers (left and right) replace in pairs.

1. Remove the wheel.

2. Turn out a bolt of fastening …

3.... and move the shock absorber away from the trailing arm.

4. Turn out two bolts of fastening of an arm of the shock-absorber to a body …

5.... and remove the shock absorber assembly with the mounting bracket.

6. Turn away a nut of fastening of an arm to the shock-absorber, keeping a rod from turning..

7.... and remove the bracket assembly with the compression buffer and protective cover.

8. Separate the protective casing and the compression buffer.

9. Examine a protective cover. Replace damaged cover.

10. Separate the compression buffer and shock absorber mounting bracket.

11. Inspect the compression buffer. Replace a hardened, cracked or deformed buffer with a new one.

12. Check up a condition of the rubber plug of an arm. If the bushing is damaged or badly worn, replace the bracket with a new one.

13. Establish the shock-absorber in an order, the return to removal.

14. Similarly replace the second shock-absorber.

On cars with a body the station wagon replace shock-absorbers in a following order.

WARNING: Before raising the rear of the vehicle, engage first gear and chock the front wheels. With the rear end raised, place secure supports next to the jack.

WARNING: Shock Absorbers (left and right) replace in pairs.
