Replacing the tie rod ends (Mondeo 3)

The ends, respectively on the left and right, are screwed to the transverse steering rod. Advantage: if there are defective ends, there is no need to replace the entire transverse steering rod.

ORDER OF EXECUTION

On a level surface, securely place the car on jack stands and remove the front wheel. First loosen the self-locking nut of the tie rod end on the steering knuckle arm by a few turns and... ...push the tip out of the steering knuckle arm using a knuckle or ball joint puller. Unscrew the nut completely and pull the tip out of the steering knuckle arm. Next, release the clamping nut on the tip and unscrew the end element from the transverse steering rod. However, do not forget to first accurately count the "free" threaded turns of the tip outside the steering rod. Then install a new tip with the same "length" of installation. If you have done everything strictly, this will avoid subsequent correction of the wheel alignment. A little "luck" will not hurt after replacing the tie rod end. Before dismantling, measure the "X" value and use it when installing a new end. If the car does not drive after repair, you can skip the geometry check measurements. Always install tie rod ends with new self-locking nuts.
