Wheel replacement (Mondeo 3)

ORDER OF EXECUTION

Apply the parking brake and engage 1st gear or reverse (automatic transmission – position "З"). When changing a wheel on the road, additionally turn on the hazard warning lights and install an emergency stop sign at the rear.
Secure your vehicle with a chock or suitable stone to prevent the wheels from rotating. Install them on the side of the vehicle where work is not being done.
Remove the wheel cap. If you can't grab the cap, insert a screwdriver (on-board tool) between the rim and the cap to pry it off.
Loosen all wheel bolts one turn.

Raise the car with a jack. The jack should be installed, naturally, only in the places provided for this purpose on the side sills.

Lift only at the points shown using the side jack.

1 - Front lift point, approximately 26 cm from the front end of the door sill,
2 - Rear lifting point, about 10 cm from the rear end of the door sill. In cars with decorative side trim, first remove the trim. To do this, lift from the bottom edge and pull out.

Unscrew the wheel bolts and...
...remove the wheel from the hub, put the new (spare) wheel on the hub and press it against the hub.
Align the wheel on the hub. The holes in the rim must match the threaded holes in the wheel hub.
Then insert the wheel bolts and tighten them securely.
Lower the vehicle and tighten the wheel bolts securely and evenly using a wheel wrench in a criss-cross pattern (if possible, the tightening torque should not exceed 85 Nm).
Install the wheel trim, align the vents correctly and hit the rim with a handball.
Drive carefully for the first ten kilometers and then check again that all screws are firmly seated.
If you have a spare wheel, do not drive faster than 80 km/h. Moreover, the driving characteristics of your Mondeo may be significantly worsened – in the worst case, the pneumatic tire may even burst.
