Removal
1. Disconnect the ground wire from the battery.
2. Remove the hood.
3. Remove the air filter.
4. Drain the coolant from the cooling system (disconnect the pipes from the radiator, expansion tank, carburetor automatic starting device housing, and heater).
5. Disconnect the electrical wires from the generator, coolant temperature sensor and oil pressure sensor.
6. Remove the high voltage distributor together with the wires from the ignition distributor.
7. Disconnect the multi-pin connector from the ignition distributor.
8. Disconnect the accelerator pedal cable from the carburetor.
9. Disconnect the fuel and vacuum hoses, as well as the electrical wires, from the carburetor.
10. Remove the V-belt and auxiliary power steering pump (if present in this version). Hang the auxiliary pump to the car body using soft wire.
11. Unscrew the front downpipe from the exhaust manifold.
12.Install the engine lifting hoist (tool 21.068) and lift the engine, then unscrew the engine holders.
13. Unscrew the bolts connecting the engine to the gearbox
14. Disconnect the electrical wires and remove the starter.
15. Disconnect the ground wire from the engine.
16. Remove the holder located between the engine and gearbox.
17. Support the gearbox using a suitable lift and a wide board and raise the gearbox slightly.
18. Carefully remove the engine, first removing the brackets that mount it to the body crossmember.
Installation
1. The engine installation is carried out in the reverse order of the removal process.
2. Lubricate the splines of the gearbox clutch shaft with oil before connecting these units.
3. Install a new front exhaust pipe gasket.
4. Fill the cooling system with the appropriate fluid and bleed air from the cooling system.
5. Check and, if necessary, adjust the ignition timing, as well as the engine idle speed and the CO concentration in the exhaust gases.
