Gearbox type C

3-4 gear synchronizer hub

Since January 1983 (manufacturing date code "DC"), a new type of synchronizer hub for gears 3–4 has been used in manual transmissions of type C. This change was introduced to eliminate synchronizer ring vibrations that occur when the synchronizer is not engaged. The change introduced does not affect the method of disassembling and assembling the transmission given in subsection 6.1.5.

Rear crankcase mount

From March 1983 (manufacture date code "DD") the rear case of the C-type gearbox is secured with Torx-type head bolts.

When loosening and tightening these bolts, it is essential to use the appropriate tools (Torx E12) designed for the heads of these bolts. Using an inappropriate tool will cause damage to the bolt head.

Other information concerning the technical characteristics, adjustment and repair of the mechanical four-speed gearbox is given in subsection 6.1.
