Intermediate shaft bearings

Since May 1983 (manufacturing date code "DL") a new solution for the placement of the intermediate shaft in bearings has been introduced in all five-speed gearboxes. The length of the bearing needles has been changed to 25.75 mm (previously 33 mm).

When replacing needle bearings in gearboxes of an earlier date of manufacture, new bearings can be used, but it is necessary to install two additional (not used in the new solution) spacer rings with the factory designation 839 E-7125-AA-6094966.

Caution: Two additional rings must be placed behind the bearing.

Other information concerning the technical characteristics, adjustment and repair of the mechanical five-speed gearbox is given in subsection 6.2.
