Clutch control mechanism
Functional check
When releasing the clutch pedal, clicking sounds may be heard from the automatic clearance adjustment mechanism due to wear of the clutch disc linings.
To eliminate this phenomenon you should:
- check if the clutch pedal moves freely on its axis;
- check whether the clutch control cable is installed correctly and whether it is jammed in the casing; if in doubt, the clutch cable should be replaced.
Toothed sectors, latches and latch springs
Since 1989, cars have been equipped with a new type of toothed sector plates, latches and springs. If any of the above parts are replaced, a new type part should be used. The toothed sector and latch are supplied in the repair kit.
Further information regarding the technical characteristics, adjustment and repair of the clutch is given in section 5.
