Starter
Ford Sierra 1.8 Turbo D vehicles are equipped with a Bosch JF starter with the following data.
Power: 2.2 kW.
Number of brushes: 4. Minimum brush length: 32.8 mm.
Rotor axial clearance: 0.3 mm.
Fuses and relays
Since September 1990, the connection of fuses and relays in the electrical equipment of the car has been changed.

Caution: The main fuse and relay box is located in the rear of the engine compartment on the left side.
Additional fuses are located in the box under the front panel on the right side (between the middle part of the front panel and the glove compartment) and are:
- fuse #28 (25A – white) – additional radiator fan;
- fuse no. 29 (30 A – green) – air conditioning unit;
- fuse #30 (20A - yellow) - anti-lock braking system (ABS);
- fuse #31 (30 A – green) – ABS pump I;
- fuse #33 (25A - white) - main radiator fan;
- fuse #34 (30 A – green) – ABS pump II;
- fuse no. 35 (1 A - black) - EEC IV module;
- fuse No.36 (10 A – red) – EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) control unit.
In addition, the following fuses are located on individual power supply wires:
- main fuse (about 55 A) - on the (+) battery wire;
- on-board computer (1 A) - under the instrument panel;
- fuel injection system (20 A) - near the relay;
- electric opening of the rear body door (1 A) - near the ignition switch;
- radio receiver (2 A; 3.15 A or 6.3 A) - on the power cord or on the back of the radio.

The main fuse and relay box may contain the following relays:
- No. A: Engine operation;
- No. B: Additional daytime running lights (Sweden and Norway only) or rear fog lights;
- No. C: sound signal;
- No. D: Engine Management Systems;
- No. E: Rear fog lights;
- No. F: Low beam headlights;
- No. G: Front seat heating;
- No. H: Front fog lights;
- No. I: Ignition switch;
- No. II: Basic lights for daytime traffic (Sweden and Norway only);
- No. III: Headlight wipers;
- No. IV: Rear window heating;
- No. V: Windscreen wiper programmer;
- No. VI: Interior light switch;
- No. VII: Anti-lock braking system ABS;
- No. VIII: Automatic transmission kick-down mechanism;
- No. IX: Rear window wiper programmer;
- No. X: High beam headlights;
- No. XI: Engine Management Systems;
- No. XII: Safe engine starting (starter blocking) in vehicles with automatic transmission.
In the engine compartment behind the gearbox there is an initial engine warm-up relay (glow plug control).
