Warning: Before servicing the electrical system, read the safety precautions in section.

1. Electrical system 12 volt negative ground. The power supply of lighting devices and all electrical consumers is provided by the battery (acid with lead plates), which is charged by a generator.

2. This chapter provides repair and maintenance information for various non-engine electrical components. Information about the battery, ignition system, alternator and starter is provided in chapter 5.

3. All models are equipped with a driver-side airbag, which is designed to prevent injury to the driver (chest and head) in case of an accident. An airbag for the front passenger is also supplied. The airbag sensor and electronics unit is installed next to the steering column and contains a charge capacitor, a collision sensor, a deceleration sensor, a safety sensor, an integrated circuit and a microprocessor (see fig. 1.3). The airbag is inflated by a gas generator. The pillow is ejected from under the cover located in the center of the steering wheel. device type "clock spring" provides a reliable electrical connection of the airbag when the steering wheel is turned in any direction.

5. Front passenger airbag

4. On later models, two airbags are installed: for the driver and the passenger in the front seat. They can also be equipped with side airbags built into the front seats from the side. To detect side impact, a separate sensor is used, installed under the driver's mat.

5. All models supplied to the UK are equipped with an anti-theft alarm system, which contains an object movement sensor inside the cabin and an ignition immobilizer. On Sedan and Hatchback models, the alarm horn is installed in the luggage compartment on the left, and on the Wagon model, on the right.

6. Some models are equipped with a headlight beam leveling system. The system is operated by a handle mounted on the front panel, in position "ABOUT" headlights occupy the main position, and in the position "5" headlights have a maximum angle of inclination.

7. Disconnect the negative battery cable when servicing the electrical system to prevent short circuits and fires.

Attention: when disconnecting the battery, see chapter 5 paragraph 1.
