Disassembling a diesel engine (Sierra)

1. Remove the turbocharger together with the exhaust manifold.

2. Drain the oil from the engine.

3. Remove the drive part and the clutch disc.

4. Remove the flywheel from the crankshaft.

5. Remove the coolant pump drive V-belt.

6. Remove the alternator drive V-belt.

7. Remove the cylinder head (see subsection 3.2.1.4.2).

8. Block the crankshaft and unscrew the crankshaft pulley mounting bolt.

9. Remove the pulley from the crankshaft.

10. Remove the fuel pump (see subsection 3.2.1.3.3).

11. Remove the generator.

12. Remove the air filter.

13. Remove the oil pump.

14. Remove the pulley from the intermediate shaft.

15. Remove the sealing ring from the intermediate shaft.

16. Unscrew the two bolts securing the intermediate shaft support flange and remove the intermediate shaft.

17. Remove the coolant pump.

18. Remove the oil pan.

19. Remove the pulley from the crankshaft.

20. Remove the oil pump oil receiver screen.

21. Mark and remove the connecting rod caps.

22. After marking the connecting rods, remove them together with the pistons from the engine cylinder block.

23. Mark and remove the main bearing caps.

24. Remove the crankshaft.

25. Remove and mark the main bearing shells and crankshaft thrust washers.
