Cooling system

1 - radiator; 2 – casing of the fan of a radiator; 3 - radiator fan; 4 - thermostat housing; 5 - thermostat; 6 - coolant pump; 7 - expansion tank; 8 - coolant temperature sensor; 9 - radiator fan thermal switch.

Coolant pump

Withdrawal

1. Disconnect ground wire from battery.

2. Drain the cooling system (see below).

3. Remove air filter.

4. Remove camshaft timing belt (see subsection 3.2.1.4.2).

5. Remove the lower timing cover.

6. Remove the timing belt tensioner pulley.

7. Unscrew the stud from the coolant pump housing.

8. Disconnect the flexible pipe from the coolant pump.

9. Remove coolant pump.

Installation

Attention! In case of replacement of the coolant pump, it is also recommended to install a new toothed timing belt.

1. Clean the sealing surfaces of the gasket in the engine block and coolant pump housing.

2. Install a new water pump gasket.

3. Screw the coolant pump to the cylinder block without fully tightening the mounting bolts.

4. Connect the coolant hose to the coolant pump. Install a white sign on the pipeline opposite the sign on the ledge of the pump housing.

5. Tighten the coolant pump mounting bolts to the correct torque.

6. Screw the stud into the appropriate place in the coolant pump housing, lubricating the threads with a small amount of Loctite 242.

7. Install the lower timing cover.

8. Install the timing belt tensioner pulley and spring. Install the roller so that its spring is compressed as much as possible.

9. Install the timing belt of the valve timing system (see subsection 3.2.1.4.4).

10. Install the air filter.

11. Connect ground wire to battery.

12. Fill and bleed the cooling system (see below).

13. Check tightness of connections.

Draining the cooling system

Attention! Coolant is recommended to be changed on a cold engine.

1. Disconnect ground wire from battery.

2. Carefully unscrew the cap of the expansion tank of the cooling system.

3. Place a container under the radiator to collect the fluid from the cooling system.

4. Unscrew the drain plug on the radiator.

5. Unscrew the drain plug on the engine block below the vacuum pump.

Filling the cooling system and removing air from it

1. Screw both drain plugs (in the radiator and in the engine block).

2. Remove the coolant deaerator bolt located in the upper radiator flex pipe.

3. Pour coolant through the hole in the expansion tank until it starts to flow out from under the coolant deaerator bolt.

4. Screw in the coolant deaerator bolt.

5. Fill coolant up to the maximum level corresponding to the sign "MAX" on the body of the tank.

6. Refill the coolant in the expansion tank to the level "MAX".

7. Screw on the cap of the expansion tank.

8. Check the tightness of the cooling system connections.
