Coolant pump
Removal
1. Disconnect the ground wire from the battery.
2. Drain the cooling system (see below).
3. Remove the air filter.
4. Remove the camshaft drive toothed belt (see subsection 3.2.1.4.2).
5. Remove the lower timing case cover.
6. Remove the timing belt tensioner roller.
7. Unscrew the stud from the coolant pump housing.
8. Disconnect the flexible hose from the coolant pump.
9. Remove the coolant pump.
Installation
Caution! When replacing the coolant pump, it is also recommended to install a new timing belt.
1. Clean the gasket mating surfaces in the engine cylinder block and coolant pump housing.
2. Install a new coolant pump gasket.
3. Screw the coolant pump to the cylinder block without fully tightening the mounting bolts.
4. Connect the flexible cooling system hose to the coolant pump. Install the white mark on the hose opposite the mark on the pump housing protrusion.
5. Tighten the coolant pump mounting bolts to the specified torque.
6. Screw the stud into the appropriate place in the coolant pump housing, lubricating the threads with a small amount of Loctite 242 glue.
7. Install the lower timing case.
8. Install the timing belt tensioner roller and spring. Install the roller so that its spring is compressed as much as possible.
9. Install the timing belt (see subsection 3.2.1.4.4).
10. Install the air filter.
11. Connect the ground wire to the battery.
12. Fill the cooling system and bleed air from it (see below).
13. Check the tightness of the connections.
Draining the cooling system
Attention! It is recommended to change the coolant on a cold engine.
1. Disconnect the ground wire from the battery.
2. Carefully unscrew the cap of the expansion tank of the cooling system.
3. Place a container under the radiator to collect the fluid flowing out of the cooling system.
4. Unscrew the drain plug on the radiator.
5. Unscrew the drain plug on the engine block, located below the vacuum pump.
Filling and removing air from the cooling system
1. Screw in both drain plugs (in the radiator and in the engine block).
2. Unscrew the cooling system deaerator bolt located in the upper elastic pipe of the radiator.
3. Pour coolant through the hole in the expansion tank until it starts to flow out from under the cooling system deaerator bolt.
4. Tighten the cooling system deaerator bolt.
5. Fill the coolant to the maximum level corresponding to the "MAX" sign on the tank body.
6. Fill the expansion tank with coolant again to the "MAX" level.
7. Screw in the expansion tank cap.
8. Check the tightness of the cooling system connections.
