Removal the Power Steering Cam Gear
1 – mounting bolts, 2 – high-pressure lines feeding the hydraulic booster, 3 – high-pressure line supplying oil to the control valve, 4 – low-pressure line (oil return)
Removal
1. Lower the engine and connect it to the clutch housing.
2. Unscrew the bolt of the elastic joint flange clamping collar and disconnect the steering wheel shaft from the steering gear drive pinion.
3. Raise the vehicle and remove the front wheels.
4. Remove the cotter pins and unscrew the crown nuts of the ball joints of the steering rods.
5. Disconnect the steering rods from the steering knuckles using puller 13.006.
6. Unscrew the high pressure lines from the transmission housing and drain the oil from the hydraulic system.
7. Unscrew the low pressure line from the transmission housing.
8. Unscrew the two bolts (1) (see Fig. Removing the Cam Gear power steering) securing the steering gear housing to the body crossmember and remove the steering gear.
Installation
1. Install the steering gear housing in the appropriate place and tighten the two bolts securing the steering gear housing to the body crossmember.
2. Connect the hydraulic lines, installing new gaskets on the connections.
3. Connect the steering rods to the steering knuckles.
4. Tighten all threaded connections to the appropriate torques.
5. Install the front wheels and lower the vehicle.
6. Add oil and bleed air from the steering system.
7. Check and, if necessary, adjust wheel alignment.
