Power steering (A – ZF brand, B – Cam Gear brand)
1 – drive pinion, 2 – drive pinion housing, 3 – toothed rack housing, 4 – toothed rack, 5 – piston and connector, 6 – steering rods, 7 – high-pressure pipes, 8 – hydraulic pump housing, 9 – hydraulic pump, 10 – pump rotor axis, 11 – pump rotor with blades, 12 – high-pressure coupling
Power Steering System Pump
1 – pump, 2 – pulley, 3 – oil sump, 4 – rear rotor seal, 5 – rotor, 6 – rotor blades, 7 – nut, 8 – pump axle
The power steering system has a helical rack and pinion steering transmission with hydraulic booster from ZF or Cam Gear.
The hydraulic pump is a Saginaw vane type. The safety steering column has a two-piece steering wheel shaft with a cross-joint and a deformable shaft cover that is secured under the dash and compresses in the event of a frontal collision.
