Fuel injection is sequential, meaning that the valve injectors are controlled individually according to the firing order of the cylinders.

The amount of air entering the engine is determined by a mass air flow meter. The mass air flow meter housing contains a filament heated by an electric current, which is cooled by the flow of inlet air passing by. In order to maintain the temperature of the hot filament constant, the heating current changes in accordance with the amount of air flowing. Based on the change in heating current, the control unit determines the engine load mode and regulates the amount of fuel injected accordingly.

Depending on the engine load conditions, the exhaust gas recirculation system redirects a certain amount of exhaust gas back to the engine intake. This reduces the proportion of nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas.

A crankshaft position sensor is installed in the engine block next to the oil filter, which registers the shaft rotation speed for the control unit.

A camshaft position sensor is installed in the cylinder head cover, informing the control unit that the piston of cylinder 1 has reached the TDC position.
