SEFI injection system (engines from 9/94)

Fuel injection is carried out sequentially. This means that the valve injectors are controlled individually according to the firing order of the cylinders.

The amount of air entering the engine is determined by a mass air flow meter. The mass air flow meter housing contains an electrically heated filament that is cooled by the flowing intake air. In order to keep the temperature of the hot filament constant, the filament current varies according to the amount of air flowing. By changing the glow current, the control unit determines the load mode of the engine and, in accordance with this, regulates the amount of injected fuel.

The exhaust gas recirculation system, depending on the engine load mode, sends a certain amount of exhaust gases back to the engine intake. This reduces the proportion of nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas.

In the crankcase of the engine, next to the oil filter, a crankshaft position sensor is installed, which registers the shaft speed for the control unit.

A camshaft position sensor is installed in the cylinder head cover, informing the control unit that the piston of cylinder 1 has reached the TDC position.
