The throttle potentiometer transmits information about the angular position of the throttle valve to the control unit.

The idle switch transmits information to the control unit about the position of the throttle valve at idle.

The idle speed control valve regulates the amount of air supplied at idle speed bypassing the throttle valve. Thanks to this, when idling, a constant crankshaft speed is always maintained, regardless of the inclusion of additional current consumers such as the power steering pump or the air conditioning compressor.

The coolant temperature sensor is a film resistance thermometer (NTC). Its resistance changes depending on the coolant temperature

The intake air temperature sensor is also a film resistance thermometer.

The engine crankcase ventilation system includes a container with activated carbon and an electromagnetic valve. Gasoline vapors formed during heating in the fuel tank accumulate in the filter with activated carbon. When the engine is running, fuel vapors are sucked out of the container with activated carbon and discharged into the engine cylinders for combustion.

The oxygen sensor (lambda sensor) measures the oxygen content in the exhaust gases and sends a corresponding voltage signal to the engine control unit.

Only engines up to 8/94 have a fuel start solenoid valve that injects additional fuel into the fuel rail to facilitate cold engine starting. The duration of the fuel start valve is regulated by a time-delay thermostat. The electrically heated additional air supply flap stabilises the crankshaft speed during engine warm-up.
