Removal and installation of the fuel manifold and valve injectors

Withdrawal



Disconnect ground wire (-) battery.

Caution: Disconnecting the battery will erase the contents of the electronic memories, such as engine trouble codes or radio codes. Before switching off, also read the instructions in chapter "Removing and installing the battery".


Disconnect the plug connectors of the valve injectors.



Relieve fuel pressure. To do this, at the service station to the valve on the fuel manifold (remove valve cover) special tool attached (FORD 23-033). The valve is then carefully opened and the fuel pressure is relieved. Finally, the special tool is removed and the valve is closed with a lid.

If a special tool is not available. carefully disconnect the fuel line. Cover the junction with a thick, clean cloth beforehand.

Safety note: The fuel system is under pressure! Cover the joint with a thick, clean cloth before loosening the fuel line connections. Then, carefully releasing the connection, release the fuel pressure.




Loosen the fastener and remove the fuel pressure regulator from the fuel rail.




Unscrew from the fuel manifold and remove the connecting fitting.



Loosen the fastener and remove the fuel manifold.



Loosen the valve injector mounting bolts.



Remove valve injectors.


Installation



Put 2 new O-rings on each valve injector at the top and bottom and insert the injectors into the fuel manifold. Lubricate O-rings with clean engine oil before installation.

Tighten fastening of valve injectors to fuel manifold to 6 Nm.

Fit fuel manifold and tighten to 10 Nm.

Connect fuel hose to fuel manifold and tighten to 6 Nm.

Insert fuel pressure regulator and tighten fastener.

Connect the plug connectors of the valve injectors.

Connect ground wire (-) battery.

Set clock.

If required, enter the anti-theft radio code.
