Vacuum control valve for Bosch fuel pump 1.8 D engine

Withdrawal


Disconnect the ground wire from the battery.

Disconnect the two vacuum lines from the vacuum control valve and identify which one is the inlet line (from the engine side), and which graduation (from the side of the radiator).

Unscrew the two bolts securing the vacuum control valve to the fuel pump.

Remove the vacuum control valve.

Installation


Attach the vacuum control valve to the fuel pump.

Adjust the vacuum control valve.

Connect the two vacuum pipes to the valve, paying attention to the markings made before disconnecting them.

Connect the ground wire to the battery.

Adjustment


Remove the plastic cap from the vacuum adjustment valve to gain access to the vacuum adjustment bolt.

Connect a hand vacuum pump to the vacuum control valve inlet.

Set the accelerator lever to the position of a full portion of fuel and in this position check the vacuum. It should be 60-70 kPa Install a 12 mm thick plate between the acceleration lever and the maximum speed adjustment bolt.

Create a vacuum with a manual vacuum pump and adjust the valve with an adjusting bolt to a pressure of 35 kPa. To increase the vacuum, screw in the adjusting bolt; to decrease it, unscrew it.

Remove the 12 mm thick plate.

Check if a vacuum of at least 60 kPa appears in the position of the maximum portion of fuel.

Install a 11.8 mm thick plate between the accelerator lever and the maximum speed adjustment bolt. and check if the vacuum is maintained at 60 kPa.

Replace the 11.8mm plate with a 12.1mm plate. In this case, it should not be possible to create a vacuum.


Disconnect the hand vacuum pump.

Remove the 12 mm thick plate.

Install the protective cap on the adjusting valve vacuum adjustment bolt.
