Dismantling and installation of the fuel pump (gasoline engine)

PROCEDURE
  1. Disconnect the battery ground wire.
  2. Empty the fuel tank and remove it under the vehicle.
  3. Dismantle the supply and drain pipes, as well as the connecting wire.
  4. Carefully release the retaining ring with the special tool (Ford 23055) or with a punch and hammer and turn out.
  5. To remove the pump from the tank, turn the housing slightly counterclockwise.
  6. Use a new O-ring to mount a new pump.
  7. First clean all sealing surfaces and be sure to align all mounting marks on the tank and fuel pump against each other.
  8. Tighten the retaining ring with a tightening torque of 80 Nm and complete the installation in reverse order.
  9. Reconnect the battery, let the pump run for about 30 seconds with the ignition on. So much time will be enough for the fuel pressure in the system to be normal.
  10. Finally, check all piping connections for tightness.
