ORDER OF EXECUTION
  1. Disconnect the battery ground wire.
  2. Empty the fuel tank and remove it from underneath the vehicle.
  3. Remove the supply and drain pipes and the connecting wire.
  4. Carefully loosen the retaining ring with a special tool (Ford 23055) or with a punch and hammer and unscrew.
  5. To remove the pump from the tank, turn the housing slightly counterclockwise.
  6. Use a new O-ring to install the new pump.
  7. First, clean all sealing surfaces and be sure to align all mounting marks on the tank and fuel pump with each other.
  8. Tighten the retaining ring to a torque of 80 Nm and complete installation in reverse order.
  9. Reconnect the battery, let the pump run for about 30 seconds with the ignition on. This will be enough time for the fuel pressure in the system to return to normal.
  10. Finally, check all pipe connections for leaks.
