Emptying the tank without a fuel pump (Mondeo 3)

The Mondeo fuel tank does not have a drain screw. Since the inlet and outlet pipes are located at the top of the tank, draining the fuel is not easy. If you do not have a hand pump (hose bellows pump), then try your luck with the following method.

ORDER OF EXECUTION

Raise the vehicle as high as possible on jack stands and disconnect the battery cables. Lower a hose into the filler pipe to the bottom of the tank (a piece of garden hose will do). Bevel the end of the hose in the tank to a length of about 40 millimetres. Hold the other opening of the hose as high as possible and close it with the end of your finger. The receiving container should already be as low as possible under the opening of the tank. Now turn the closed end of the hose very quickly and very deeply into the receiving container and immediately disconnect your finger from the opening. Assuming that the beveled end of the hose is still "in" the gasoline, then the gasoline flows into the receiving container. If this does not work, repeat this procedure. Warning: do not suck fuel with your mouth under any circumstances - the risk of poisoning is quite high! If the tank is not completely emptied and you have too little "slope" between the two containers, the fuel will remain exactly where you drained it from - in the tank. So then use a proper hand pump.
