Draining fuel from the tank without a hand pump

            0

If it is necessary to drain the fuel in order to work with the fuel system, it is first necessary to completely exhaust the fuel from the tank if possible. Fiesta fuel tanks do not have a drain port. Since the fuel supply and return lines are located on top of the fuel tank, it is not possible to simply drain the fuel. If you do not have a manual diaphragm pump, drain the fuel as follows.

SEQUENCE OF WORK

1. Raise the Fiesta as high as possible.

2. Insert the hose (maybe a piece of garden hose) into the filler neck so that it reaches the bottom of the fuel tank.

3. Lift up the top end of the hose and pinch it firmly with your finger. The fuel collection container should be as low as possible to the bottom of the fuel tank. Pull the pinched end of the hose out of the fuel tank and lower it into a container. Quickly remove your finger - fuel will flow from the tank. If fuel does not flow out, repeat the operation.

4. If the fuel tank is not completely filled, it is impossible to pump out fuel in this way, you must use a hand pump.

WARNING

Sucking fuel by mouth is harmful to health.
