Draining fuel from the fuel tank with a manual pump

            0

The Focus fuel tank does not have a drain plug. Since the suction line and recirculation line are located on top of the fuel tank, you cannot simply let the fuel drain. If you don't have a hand pump (bellows hose pump), then this is done as described below.

Raise the vehicle as high as possible.

In the filler pipe of the fuel tank, lower the hose to the bottom of the tank. If necessary, use a piece of garden hose.

Lift the hose with the top hole up and then close it with your finger. The receiving container must be placed well below the level of the bottom of the fuel tank. Now lower the closed end of the hose into a container. Quickly remove your finger: if the end of the hose in the fuel tank is still in gasoline, then fuel will flow at a falling speed from the fuel tank. If not, repeat the procedure.

Caution: if you suck fuel with your mouth, you will endanger your health.

If the fuel tank is not full enough and your receiver stays dry, then use a suitable hand pump.
