Drain the fuel from the fuel tank and remove it from underneath the vehicle.
Remove the fuel supply and return lines and the power connections at the fuel pump.

Using a special tool (Ford 23055) or a punch and hammer, carefully loosen and unscrew the retaining ring.

Remove the fuel pump. To do this, turn the pump counterclockwise and remove it from the fuel tank. Be careful with the float and float lever.
When installing a new pump, be sure to place a new O-ring under the retaining ring.
Installation
Be sure to align the markings on the fuel tank and the fuel pump with each other.
Before installing the pump, thoroughly clean all sealing surfaces. Tighten the locking ring to approximately 80 Nm.
Complete the installation in reverse order.
Connect the battery and start the pump for about 30 seconds using the ignition. This is about how long it takes to raise the fuel pressure in the system.
Check the pipeline connections for leaks.
