Brake Fluid Replacement

Required special tool: Ring spanner for bleed valve.

Replacement materials: Brake fluid specification SUPER DOT 4 or FORD ESD-M6C57A.

Brake fluid is able to absorb moisture from the air through the pores in the brake hoses and the vent in the cover of the expansion tank. Therefore, during the operation of the car, the boiling point of the brake fluid decreases. When the brakes are heavily loaded, vapor locks can form in the brake lines, which greatly impairs the operation of the brake system. Brake fluid should be changed every 2 years regardless of vehicle mileage, possibly in spring. In this case, approximately 400 cm³ of brake fluid must be drunk from each brake caliper.
