Numbering of main bearing caps

1. Install the gasket into the groove in the cylinder block and the rear main bearing cap.

2. Install special tool rod (21.085) on the pad.

3. Hit the flat surface of the special tool with a wooden mallet so that the gasket properly fills the groove provided for it and does not deform. Align the ends of the gasket with the plane of the cylinder block and cover; no elements of the gasket material should protrude above this plane.

4. Lubricate the liners with oil grooves with engine oil and lay them in the seats of the cylinder block, paying attention that they are in the same seats in which they stood before (comply with the designations).

5. Carefully install the crankshaft onto the main bearing shells.

6. Install the main bearing caps No. 2, 3, 4 and 5, and also preliminarily, without side seals, the bearing cap No. 1.

7. Tighten the main bearing cap bolts to 110 Nm.

8. Position the dial indicator so that its measuring tip touches the front of the crankshaft.

9. Check the axial clearance of the crankshaft, which should be 0.08–0.29 mm.

10. In the event of an inappropriate value of the axial clearance, the thrust half rings of the crankshaft should be replaced; There are two thicknesses for selection: 2.30 and 2.50mm.
