Bleeding air from the fuel system

            0

This procedure must be carried out in the following cases:
  • disconnection of the fuel pipeline;
  • airing the fuel circuit of the fuel pump;
  • turning off the engine in the absence of fuel in the fuel tank;
  • fuel filter replacement.

Attention! When removing air from the fuel system, it is necessary to apply voltage to the engine stop solenoid valve to open the valve.

Fastening of the return fuel line

1. Check for fuel in the fuel tank.

2. Install a suitable container under the fuel filter to collect spilled fuel.

3. Unscrew the bleed screw (1) on the hollow bolt of the fuel filter outlet hose and unscrew the handle of the booster pump (2).

4. Pump until fuel comes out through the bleeder screw without air bubbles.

5. Press the pump handle and screw the bleed screw in this position.

6. Unscrew the bleed screw (indicated by an arrow), located on the side of the high pressure fuel pump, or fastening the fuel return pipe and pump with the pump until fuel comes out through them without air bubbles.

7. Stop the fuel supply when the pump button starts to show strong resistance. On engines equipped with a hand-tight polygon head fuel pump, finger-tighten the fuel pump head.

8. If replaced (or unscrewed), injection pipelines, loosen the nuts of their fastening to the injectors, press the accelerator pedal all the way and turn on the starter until fuel begins to pour out from under the loosened pipelines.

9. Screw the fuel lines to the injectors and start the engine.

10. Check all fuel line connections for leaks.

Filter replacement

Fuel filter assembly

1 - filter holder, 2 - replaceable filter element, 3 - sump, 4 - manual fuel pump

The filter element to be replaced is sandwiched between the filter holder and filter sump.

Fuel filter element replacement

C - sump, E - drain bolt

1. Unscrew the bolt securing the sediment bowl to the filter holder.

2. Disconnect the sediment cup and the fuel filter element to be replaced.

3. Install the new element to be replaced on the sump and push it to the filter holder.

4. Carefully screw the bolt that secures the sediment bowl to the filter holder.

5. Check fuel filter connections for leaks.

Removing water from the sump

1. Place a container under the fuel filter, loosen the drain bolt and the bolt of the fuel drain pipe from the filter.

2. Tighten both bolts after the water stops flowing out.
