Idle speed cable — removal and installation

To ensure stable operation of the engine when starting a cold engine and during warm-up, a special idle speed increase device is used that controls the high-pressure pump with a sensor through a cable.

Withdrawal

1. Remove the clamp at the end of the idle speed increase cable and remove the cable from the lever.

2. Unscrew the cable sheath from the pump.

3. Unscrew the control sensor together with the cable from the cylinder head.

Installation

1. Screw the control sensor together with the cable and a new copper sealing ring into the cylinder head.

2. Warm up the engine to operating temperature.

3. Install the cable sheath in the holder and secure the cable to the lever with a clamp.

4. Adjust the cable tension with the adjusting screw on the cable sheath so that the cable has a play of about 2 mm, then tighten the cable sheath fastening locknut.
