Checking the idle speed (Mondeo 3)

            0

The idle speed, depending on the consumer switched on (e.g. headlights, air conditioning or power steering), is constantly adjusted by the engine control unit. Carburetor engines operate at 700 rpm, turbodiesels can rotate their crankshafts at 900 rpm. To check, you need a tachometer; in workshops, an engine tester is connected for this purpose. If the measured values do not correspond to the factory parameters, the malfunction cannot be eliminated separately: experts then check the entire engine management system. Then the on-board computer needs to "drive" a couple of kilometers to regenerate itself. In this "training phase", high fluctuations during idle speed are quite normal.
