Sometimes it is rational to carry out a visual inspection of the injection system

From time to time check the routed hoses and their connections for correct fit and fatigue cracks:
  1. Vacuum hose to absolute pressure sensor.
  2. Brake booster vacuum hose.
  3. Are all engine ventilation hoses in good condition? Or are they clogged, dirty or oily?
  4. Are the fuel lines sealed?
  5. Are the connections and pressure regulator tight, and...
  6. ...the drain pipe from the pressure regulator? Pay attention to cracks and leaky connections.
  7. If during work under the engine hood it is necessary «draw out» by the wire plug, you can then provoke a loosening of the contact. For prevention, treat the findings with a contact spray. IN «serious cases» Can «sensitive» bend contact tabs.

Additional air - instills uncertainty in the operation of the PCM

Leaks in the suction system lead to uncontrolled additional air. This instills uncertainty in the PCM and leads to incorrect results, for example, when preparing an air-fuel mixture: the injectors supply too little fuel to the engine. Consequence: The combustible mixture becomes leaner uncontrollably. «Unsecured» motors in the partial load range tend to «impoverishment jerks» combustible mixture and at full load you can also hear «detonation knocks». The symptoms described are, among others, «external flaws»: over time, they can lead to more expensive consequences (e.g. burnt piston crowns, piston seizure, valve defects) etc). To protect your Mondeo from all this, the Duratec engine block «controls» knock sensor. As soon as the noises become «unhealthy», the sensor reports this to the PCM. The transmission control unit sets «detonation» cylinder further to the late ignition point. Attentive drivers note this intervention: Mondeo reacts much more coolly to pressing the gas pedal. For the knock sensor to be «unemployed», it is necessary to inspect the intake system more often.
