Replacing the gas pedal rod (using Duratec-HE as an example) (Mondeo 3)

ORDER OF EXECUTION

Remove the intake hose between the air filter and the engine. To do this, release the two clamps (indicated by arrows) and remove the hose.

Removing the inlet hose.
Now remove the pipes and hoses from the upper engine cover, release the connections and..
...disconnect the engine trim.
Now hang the gas pedal rod on the throttle body (indicated by the arrow).

Remove the trim in the footwell.
Remove the rod from the accelerator pedal.
To make it easier to install the new rod, "connect" both rods in the engine compartment and drag the new rod into place with the old rod.
Complete the installation of the new rod in reverse order.

Note: Before passing the new rod through the rubber nozzle in the front wall, secure the nozzle and lightly lubricate the "rubber" with Vaseline before installation.
