Prepare the power unit for installation. To do this, insert the rod of the right engine support into the hole in the side member bracket.
Install the right engine mount.
Install a beam to support the gearbox.
In a car with a 1.6i engine and automatic transmission, install the toothed belts on the left and right half shafts. Temporarily install the toothed belt cover on the left side and the inner modulator cover on the right side.
Insert the half shafts into the corresponding places of the gearbox. Pay attention to the correct settling of the spring rings (Fig. 2.11).
Secure the inner casing of the modulator (this applies to a car with a 1.6i engine and ABS system).
Install the pressure modulator with the SCS sensor. Screw in the mounting bolts by hand, without tightening them with a wrench. Install the toothed belt and tighten it so that when you press it with your thumb, it bends by 5 mm.
Install the timing belt cover.
Perform the remaining actions in the reverse order of removing the power unit.
Adjust the external gear shift mechanism by following these steps:
- engage fourth gear in the gearbox. To do this, press the selector, setting it so that the hole is directed vertically.
- connect the gear shift rod to the selector shaft.
- set the gear shift lever to the fourth gear position and secure it in the housing with a pin having a diameter of 3.5 mm from the gear shift lever housing (Fig. 2.12).
Adjust the clutch pedal travel (see section 3.1. Clutch).
Fill the engine cooling system with liquid. Fill the engine lubrication system with oil. Check the level and, if necessary, bring the oil level in the gearbox to the norm.
