Removing the engine from the car

            0

The engine is removed along with the gearbox. Before removing the power unit, it is necessary to turn on the fourth gear in the gearbox. This will allow you to properly adjust the gear change mechanism during the installation of the power unit.

Disconnect the ground wire from the battery clamp.

Drain the liquid from the cooling system. If the fluid has been in operation for less than two years and is not contaminated, it can be used in the future.

Disconnect all flexible hoses from the engine.

Disconnect from 1.4i engine (with petrol injection) cable "gas", along with its mount and traction. In a diesel engine, disconnect the cable "gas" from injection pump.

Remove the fuel lines and cover their open ends to prevent contamination from entering them.

Remove all electrical wires from the engine.

Disconnect the speedometer cable from the transmission.

Disconnect the clutch release cable from the release forks.

Remove the air filter in the diesel engine.

Raise the car on a two wheel jack (ski lift).

Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold.

Remove lambda probe wire (refers to a vehicle with a 1.4i engine).

Remove the exhaust system by detaching its parts from the rubber suspensions.

Unscrew the bolt securing the ground wire to the engine housing.

Disconnect the shift bar from the manual transmission (pic. 2.5).

Unscrew the shift lever bracket from the manual transmission.

Disconnect the flywheel housing from the side member (three clasps).

Disconnect the starter and ground wires from the manual transmission.

Separate the lower hinges of the steering knuckles of the columns from both sides of the car (pic. 2.6).

Disconnect the left side cross bar from the steering knuckle arm.

Remove the toothed belt cover (this applies to 1.6i engines in vehicles with ABS).

Remove pressure modulator with SCS sensor (pic. 2.7).

Remove the inner casing of the toothed belt.

Take out the left half shaft from a transmission. To do this, insert the mounting lever between the axle shaft and the gearbox. Push the shaft out as far as you can (pic. 2.8).

Tie the axle shaft to the chassis. Close the hole in the gearbox.

Remove the right transverse arm and torque rod.

Remove the right axle shaft from the gearbox and tie it to the chassis.

On a vehicle with a two-piece right axle shaft, the following additional steps must be taken:
  • disconnect the shrouds (cases) (V. fig. 2.9) from casings (covers) removing the drive from the gearbox.
  • unscrew the intermediate bearing bolts from the engine (C. fig. 2.9).
  • pull the complete axle shaft out of the manual transmission and hang it on the steering rods.

Support the power unit from below.

Disconnect the beam supporting the gearbox from the body (pic. 2.10).

Take out the power unit (engine with gearbox) down.
