Further steps for assembling the engine

1. Install the crankshaft pulley.

2. Remove any traces of oil or grease from the crankshaft pulley mounting bolt, washer, and from the pulley-washer interface.

3. Apply 3 drops of Frenetanch to the threads in the crankshaft bore.

4. Tighten the crankshaft pulley bolt to the correct torque.

5. Install the engine cylinder head (see subsection 3.5.5.2).

6. Install clutch (see subsection 6.2.3).

7. Install the fuel pump and adjust the injection timing.

8. Install:

• cylinder head cover with new gasket (glue the gasket to the cover, tighten the nuts to a torque of 3 Nm);
• cold engine speed controller thermostat together with a new copper gasket and tighten it to 22.5 Nm;
• glow plugs, their electrical wire and current bus; tighten the spark plugs to 50 Nm;
• fuel supply pipeline;
• generator together with tensioner holder;
• oil filter holder with new gasket;
• oil supply pipeline to the axis of the valve levers.

9. Attach the front exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold.

10. Install the V-belt tensioners, auxiliary steering pump, vacuum pump and radiator fan.

11. Put on and tension V-belts.

12. Measure the oil pump drive clearance.
