Removing and installing ignition coils for duratec-he and duratec-v15 engines (Mondeo 4)

NOTE: Although the Duratec-V15 engine cylinder head design is slightly different from the Duratec-HE engines, the ignition coils on all of these engines are replaced using similar techniques.


You will need an 8mm socket head.

1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.

2. Remove the decorative engine cover (see Removing and installing the decorative engine cover).

3. By pressing the lock…

4….disconnect the wiring harness connector from the ignition coil.

5. Loosen the fastening bolt…

6….unscrew the bolt…

7….and remove the ignition coil.

8. Remove the ignition coils of the other cylinders in the same way.

9. Install the coils in the reverse order of removal.

NOTE: Please pay attention to the coil markings.


NOTE: Purchase new reels with the same markings.
