Removing and installing ignition coil for 1.6L duratec ti-vct engine (Mondeo 4)

You will need a TORX T25 key.

1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.

2. Remove the decorative engine cover (see Removing and installing the decorative engine cover).

2. Remove the decorative engine cover (see Removing and installing the decorative engine cover).


3. Disconnect the high-voltage wires from the ignition coil terminals.

3. Disconnect the high-voltage wires from the ignition coil terminals.


4. Squeeze the latch…

5….and disconnect the low-voltage wire harness connector from the ignition coil.



5….and disconnect the low-voltage wire harness connector from the ignition coil.


6. Remove the four ignition coil mounting screws…

7….and remove the coil.

NOTE: Pay attention to the markings on the ignition coil. For replacement, purchase a coil with exactly the same markings.


8. Install the ignition coil and all previously removed parts in reverse order. To correctly connect the high-voltage wires to the ignition coil, you will find the numbers of the corresponding engine cylinders next to the terminals on the coil housing.

NOTE: Before installation, lubricate the high-voltage wire terminals with a grease such as petroleum jelly.
