To improve the appearance of the engine compartment and reduce noise, a decorative plastic cover is installed on the engine. When performing most engine repair and maintenance work, this cover must be removed.
The decorative engine cover is fixed on three ball struts located vertically.
1. Open the hood and place it on the support.
2. Take the decorative cover by the edges and pull it up, overcoming the force of the clamps.
3. Carefully remove the decorative engine cover.
CAUTION: Contact between the engine cover and the hood panel may result in damage (scratches) to the cover.
WARNING: When the outside temperature is below 0°C, remove the engine cover with extreme caution. Failure to do so may result in damage to the cover.
4. Inspect the fasteners on the back of the casing.
5. Remove the rubber retainer element for replacement by prying it with a flat-blade screwdriver if there are signs of rubber aging and tears.
6. If necessary, remove the ball joints by unscrewing them from the cylinder head cover mounting studs.
7. Install the decorative engine cover in the reverse order of removal.
