Replacing the electronic engine control unit (Mondeo 4)

The electronic engine control unit of the Ford Mondeo is installed in the arch of the left front wheel on the washer reservoir and is covered with a special cover.

You will need a TORX T30 key.

1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.

2. Remove the left front wheel).

3. Remove the fender liner (see Removing and installing wheel mudguards and fender liners).

4. Remove the protective cover of the electronic engine control unit, overcoming the resistance of its clips.

NOTE: For clarity, the work is shown with the front bumper removed.

5. Turn the gray wiring harness connector lock clockwise 90°…

HELPFUL TIP: Remember or write down the locations of the wire harness connectors so you can reinstall them in their original locations.

9. Loosen the four bolts securing the engine control unit to the washer reservoir…

12. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
