Replacing the electronic engine control unit

The electronic engine control unit of the Ford Mondeo car is installed in the left front wheel arch on the washer reservoir and is closed with a special cover.

You will need a TORX T30 key.

1. Disconnect a wire from the minus plug of the storage battery.

2. Remove the left front wheel).



3. Remove fender liner (see Removal and installation of wheel mudguards and fender liner).



4. Remove the protective cover of the electronic engine control unit, overcoming the resistance of its latches.

NOTE: For clarity, operation is shown with the front bumper removed.




5. Turn clockwise 90°the retainer of the gray block of the wiring harness..




6.... and disconnect the block from the block.



7. Similarly, disconnect the brown..



8.... and black pads.

USEFUL HINT: Remember or write down the location of the wiring harness blocks in order to install them in their original places.




9. Loosen the four bolts securing the electronic engine control unit to the washer reservoir..




10….remove the bolts…



NOTE: This is how the holes in the mounting block are located (for clarity, it is shown on the removed block, since when the block is installed on the car, all mounting bolts are inaccessible for photography).




11….and remove the block.

NOTE: Pay attention to the marking of the electronic engine control unit. Purchase a new unit with the same marking.




12. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
