Replacing the electronic engine control unit (Fusion)

To replace the electronic engine control unit, you must have certain skills. If you do not have sufficient skills, do not try to remove the ECU yourself, but contact a specialized workshop.

You will need: a drill, a 6 mm drill bit, a TORX T25 key.

1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.

2. Remove the battery tray (see "Removal and installation the battery").

3. Use a screwdriver to pry up the fastening clips of the protective cover of the wiring harness block…

4. …and remove the protective cover.

5. Install a special bolt drilling guide bushing into the hole and drill out the bolt.



6. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the ECU.

7. Use pliers to remove the remaining bolt from the block.

8. Install the engine control unit and all previously removed parts in reverse order.
