Removing and installing the air intake box grille and water drain shield (Focus 2)

The air intake box grille and water deflector shield are removed if they are damaged or to gain access to the windshield wiper, as well as when replacing the windshield glass.

You will need: TORX T30 key, flat-blade screwdriver.

1. Open the hood and place it on the support.



2. Remove the hood seal.



3. Using a screwdriver, remove the six spring clips of the air intake box grille.

NOTE: This is how the air intake box grille spring retainers are located.

4. Remove the levers from the wiper linkage axles (see "Replacing the Windshield Wiper Arms").



5. Remove the air intake box grille by removing the longitudinal protrusion on the rear edge of the grille from the groove in the windshield seal.



6. Remove the two screws securing the water drain shield, located on its edges on the left and right…





7. …and remove the water-diverting shield by pulling its edge out from under the four spring clips (one of the clips is shown by the arrow).

8. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
