Withdrawal


WARNING: Do not smoke or walk with a lit cigarette or any type of open flame while working on or near fuel related items. In such situations, there are always highly flammable mixtures that can ignite. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury.


WARNING: This procedure is related to fuel handling. Always be aware of the possibility of fuel splashing and observe fuel handling precautions. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury.


1. Relieve pressure in the fuel system. See Section 310-00 for more information.

2. Disconnect ground wire from battery Refer to Section 414-01 for more information.

3. Disconnect the vehicle speed control cable (in the presence of).
  • 1. Disconnect the cable from the throttle body.
  • 2. Disconnect the vehicle speed control cable from the throttle body.



4. Disconnect the accelerator cable.
  • 1. Remove the clip and disconnect the inner cable from the throttle body.
  • 2. Rotate the outer sheath of the cable.
  • 3. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle body.



5. Disconnect the air filter outlet pipe.




6. Disconnect the plug connector of the fuel pressure sensor.



7. Disconnect the vacuum line from the fuel pressure sensor.



8. Disconnect the vacuum line from the fuel pressure pulsation damper (for clarity, the engine is shown removed).



9. Disconnect the fuel supply line from the fuel manifold (for clarity, the engine is shown removed). See Section 310-00 for more information.




10. Disunite electric sockets of fuel atomizers.



11. Remove the fuel manifold (for clarity, the engine is shown removed).



12. Remove the fuel injectors from the fuel manifold. Slide the clip to release the nozzle.



13. Remove the o-rings and discard them as no longer needed.




Installation

CAUTION: Do not use silicone grease to lubricate fuel injector O-rings, as this contributes to clogging of the fuel injectors.

NOTE: Install new fuel injector O-rings.


Reinstall the elements in reverse order.
  • To facilitate installation, lubricate the O-rings of the fuel injectors with clean engine oil.
