Withdrawal


1. Remove the timing belt. For more information, refer to the Timing Belt chapter found in this section.

2. Remove the camshaft oil seal. For more information, refer to the Camshaft Seal chapter found in this section.

3. Check valve clearances. For more information, refer to the Valve Clearance chapter in this section.

4. Remove the oil separator.

CAUTION: Loosen the camshaft bearing cap nuts Nos. 1, 3, and 5 one turn each so as to loosen the camshaft.


NOTE: Keep the camshaft bolts and bearing caps in order.


Remove the camshaft. Discard the camshaft oil seals as they are no longer needed.



6.
NOTE: Keep the valve lifters and shims in order.



Remove the valve lifters and shims.



Installation


1.
NOTE: Lubricate the valve lifters and shims with clean engine oil.


Install the valve lifters and shims.



2.
NOTE: The larger semicircle should face up.


Install the camshaft.



3.
NOTE: Apply clean engine oil to the camshaft bearing caps.



Install the camshaft bearing caps. Apply sealant to the marked surfaces of the No. 1 bearing cap.



4. Check valve clearances. For more information, refer to the Valve Clearance chapter in this section.

5. Install the oil separator.



6. Install the camshaft oil seal. For more information, refer to the Camshaft Seal chapter found in this section.

7. Install the timing belt. For more information, refer to the Timing Belt chapter found in this section.
