Water pump (1.8 l diesel) — removal and installation

Withdrawal

1. Disconnect a wire of weight from the accumulator.

2. Drain the coolant from the cooling system. For more information, refer to the chapter Draining/Filling Coolant and Bleeding Air from the Cooling System found in this section.

3. Loosen the water pump pulley bolts.

4. Remove the timing belt. See Section 303-01A / 303-01B / 303-01C / 303-01D / 303-01E for more information.

5. Remove the timing belt tensioner and water pump pulley.



6. Remove the engine support.

NOTE: To be able to remove the water pump, the engine must be lifted with special tool 21-140.

Remove the water pump.



8. Remove the water pump gasket and discard it as no longer needed.

Installation

NOTE: Install a new water pump gasket.

NOTE: Install water pump on drive pins before installing bolts.

Reinstall the elements in reverse order.
