Water pump (1.6L Zetec-SE / 1.4L) — removal and installation

Withdrawal

1. Drain the coolant from the cooling system. For more information, refer to the chapter Draining/Filling Coolant and Bleeding Air from the Cooling System found in this section.

2. Disconnect a wire of weight from the accumulator.

3. Loosen the water pump pulley bolts.



4. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Section 303-05 for more information.

5. Remove the water pump pulley.

CAUTION: Close the timing belt and bottom cover to avoid coolant contamination.

Remove the water pump.



7. Remove the water pump gasket and discard it as no longer needed.

Installation

NOTE: Install a new water pump gasket.

Reinstall the elements in reverse order.





3. Add working fluid to the cooling system. For more information, refer to the chapter Draining/Filling Coolant and Bleeding Air from the Cooling System found in this section.
