Removal
1. Drain the coolant from the cooling system. For more information, refer to the Draining/Filling Coolant and Bleeding the Cooling System chapter in this section.
2. Remove the ignition coil cover.
- 1. Disconnect the clamps.
- 2. Release the coolant line from the clamp.
3. Using a special tool, disconnect the cooling system hoses from the thermostat housing.
4. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor connector.
5. Remove the thermostat housing mounting bolts.
6. Using the special tool, disconnect the coolant hose from the thermostat housing and remove the thermostat housing.
7. Remove the O-ring and discard it as no longer needed.
Installation
1.
Note: Install a new O-ring.
Install the elements back in place in reverse order.
2. Fill the cooling system. For more information, refer to the Draining/Filling Coolant and Bleeding the Cooling System chapter in this section.
