Removal and installation of the thermostat

Disconnect the negative cable from the battery and drain the coolant. Disconnect the hoses from the thermostat, unscrew the three mounting bolts and remove the thermostat. Remove retaining ring 10 (rice. 2.66) and thermostat 14.

Check thermostat operation. To do this, immerse the thermostat in a vessel with water so that it does not touch the walls of the vessel. Heat water and use a thermometer to determine the temperature at which the valve opens. Before installing the thermostat, clean the mating surfaces from the old gasket. Install a new gasket in the housing 2 (pic. 2.69), thermostat 3 and secure with retaining ring 4.



Install the thermostat housing assembly with a new gasket 10 (pic. 2.66) on the engine. Connect the hoses, fill the system with coolant. start the engine and check for fluid leaks.
